I am a 22yo professional event rider, based from a beautiful yard near Newent, in Gloucestershire. I am from a completely non-horsey family, and got into horses by chance, aged 9, by watching the film International Velvet on TV! I went through school aiming to set myself up with a career to help me fund the horses, but despite achieving very good grades throughout, I decided that I had to pursue my dream of working with horses full time and left to start my first working pupil position. As I had no family help with the horses, I knew I had to get the most experience possible in order to succeed. I spent the years 2015-2018 working for multiple top level event riders, gaining in depth knowledge of the riding and management of competition horses, which has allowed me to set up my own business, and to produce my own horses up the eventing levels. During this time I was also a dedicated British Eventing (BE) volunteer, and won their Young Volunteer of the Year award. I am committed to the sport of eventing, and to a life caring for and improving horses, with the hope that this leads to success at the highest level, and one day, on the British team.

TEAM

PATRICK COSTELLOE
HUSBAND
Always a top supporter and has even been known to groom from time to time (of course - only to the highest standard). Paddy is Eilidh's super supportive other half. Alongside his wife, he also competes on occasions. He mainly focuses on taking out to compete the horses who are in the early stages of their competitive careers; one of the most important phases of their learning and training.

JULIA & GERALD MIDDLETON
MUM & DAD
Eilidh's parents are forever helping out on the yard and fixing things, as well as packing the lorry for competitions and training sessions. They are always there in an any type of emergency - the best parents! They both go above and beyond to attend each and every event possible. Dad also makes all our hay, which to date has been super quality. As you can see, Eilidh's mum and dad are a fundamental part of her support team!

ANNA MCKENZIE
GROOM
Anna works at the Oldtown Equine and is a key member of the team; she knows each and every horse inside out! She is in charge of day to day tasks and runs the show when Eilidh is away coaching or competing. Anna has lessons on her horses Sligo and Alfie, with aims to get back out eventing again in the near future. Anna is Eilidh's right hand girl and is learning the ropes of working on an eventing yard.

ALICE HUGHES
VET
Alice works for Ardene House Vet practice; a North East of Scotland based vets who provide a 24 hour, 365 days a year service to care for horses, ponies and donkeys. Their team of equine vets and nurses team offer a high standard, caring, professional service to all their equines and owners. Alice is always on the end of the phone and ensures that all of Eilidh's horses are in tip top condition for competition and training.

WENDY FYVIE
FARRIER
Eilidh has known Wendy since they were children, which makes her the perfect person to have on team Costelloe! She is a fantastic farrier and is extremely passionate about her job. Wendy is very conscientious and works hard to ensure that each horse is shod in the best way possible for them. She is also great with horses of all temperaments and treats each as if they were her own.

PIPPIE POLSON
SADDLE FITTER
Pippie is Eilidh's Devoucoux representative and regularly visits the yard to fit new saddles and make adjustments where needed, especially as the horses change shape. She has gone above and beyond to make sure the saddles fit all the horses and nothing is too much hassle. She has become a friend and Eilidh has stayed with her whilst travelling through England to events - more than just a saddle fitter and sponsor!

HANNAH ROUTLEDGE
DODSON & HORRELL FEED REP
Hannah has been coming to Oldtown Equine for a couple of years now. She spends lots of time with Eilidh at the yard, discussing each horse and their individual requirements. Hannah weighs each horse and condition scores them, to ensure that an appropriate feeding plan is devised accordingly. She also shares her knowledge, giving guidance to Anna and Eilidh on feeding properties and benefits.
